Workers want to return to better balance of work/life in contract dispute at Beam

CLERMONT -- The good news was that for the first time in years, workers with the Jim Beam Brands plants in Clermont and Boston had the weekend off.

The bad news is that the weekend vacation was because the 250-plus employees at the two plants officially went on strike Friday at midnight.

The strike comes after three contract extensions and a session with a federal mediator.
