Local players seeded as quest for state begins today

LOUISVILLE -- After local squads struggled in the team competition held last week, it is time for tennis players to begin their trek to the state tennis tournament.

Region Six tennis action begins on Monday. 

The girls will compete at Petersburg Park, located at Newburg Road and Indian Trail.

The boys will compete at St. Xavier High School.

All championships will be played at St. Xavier on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Eagles rally from early 5-0 hole to beat Central 7-6

   HEBRON ESTATES -- A 5-1 deficit after the first inning showed that North Bullitt had a little bit of a hangover from facing Bullitt East three days earlier, but the Eagles kept their composure, rallied, and beat 23rd District rival Bullitt Central 7-6 on Tuesday of last week.

Regional tennis team play starts

 SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Few matches remain as tennis teams gear up for regional action on May 9.

Bullitt East boys’ team will compete this week in the regional competition for the seven-member squads.

In girls’ competition, Bullitt Central and North Bullitt will both compete on Monday in regional team championships.

Individual play is next week.

Boys’ tennis

North Bullitt avenged an earlier 3-2 loss to Bullitt East on Monday.

The host Eagles reversed the score.
