HILLVIEW - When Louisville native Sonia Seabolt graduated from Moore High School in 2003 she dreamed of owning her own salon.

With her sister Alicia Moreland as her business partner, Seabolt’s dream was realized when 180 Salon and Spa opened its doors in Hillview this past spring.

Of course 180 offers your typical hair services, such as cuts, coloring and extensions, and spa services, like facials, body and facial waxing, massages, manicures and pedicures, but as Seabolt said the 180 experience is anything but typical.

Seabolt said she and her sister opened 180 determined to provide high-end services at a reasonable price, services that would rival those provided by even the most exclusive salons and spas.

What sets them apart from the competition is the attention Seabolt, her sister and their staff pay their customers, making sure every 180 experience is pleasant and relaxing.

Seabolt said the cosmetologists at 180 not only work to make sure their clients enjoy coming to them, they strive to go the extra mile with services you don’t find everywhere.

Every customer receives a full consultation before receiving salon and spa services and every hair service comes with a scalp, neck, arm and hand massage in addition to shampoo and conditioning.

And for no additional charge, stylists record clients while they’re getting their hair done using an iPad. The video is emailed to clients so that when they have trouble fixing their hair the way the stylist had they can refer to it as a tutorial.

Clients also receive before and after photos so they can see the difference.

“We take you 180 and show you the difference,” Seabolt said. “That’s why we’re called 180.”

For as long as she could remember Seabolt wanted to do hair, so when she graduated high school she enrolled in The Hair Design School in Louisville, where she earned her cosmetology license.

Before opening 180, Seabolt spent eight years as a stylist at Aveda salons in Louisville.

After becoming familiar with Bullitt County two years ago when she moved to Hillview, Seabolt decided to open her business there when she found available retail space in the Hillview Springs Shopping Center.

Seabolt said the price was right and she felt the area needed a salon and spa that offered high-end services at reasonable prices, so she got her sister onboard and 180 was born.

With a store in Hillview, Seabolt and Moreland hope to have two more locations in Bullitt County and Louisville within the next five years.

180 Salon and Spa is located at 6504 North Preston Highway in the Hillview Springs Shopping Center, across from Tanyard Springs subdivision.
