It was discussed over five years ago and it has finally been accomplished by the Shepherdsville Police Department.
The agency has been designated as one of about 90 departments in Kentucky to have met the 167 standards for accreditation.
It has taken a while as administrations have changed, as well as leadership of the department. But the Kentucky Association of Police Chiefs bestowed the honor upon the department on Monday night in a ceremony before the city council.
