When Kentucky Air National Guard pilot JT Hourigan flew missions in Afghanistan he carried a very special piece of home with him—an American flag from Pleasant Grove Elementary School.

After recently returning to Mount Washington, Hourigan visited PGES to share his journey with his son Blake’s fourth grade class and his daughter Klaire’s kindergarten class.

In a special presentation at PGES, Hourigan explained his job as an airman while students watched video filmed in Afghanistan.

He also showed students how to properly fold an American flag and presented PGES with the flag he had flown on missions.

He is pictured with Mrs. Crumbacker’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Hornback’s fourth-grade class.
