Appeals Court says health board can regulate smoking policies

-A A +A

2012...A look back at some of the top stories, issues

Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em took on a whole new meaning in the past year in Bullitt County.

After a Bullitt Circuit Judge ruled that the Bullitt County Board of Health had overstepped its powers in imposing a smoking ban in public places, the state Court of Appeals reversed that decision.

The Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that the health department had the powers to impose the regulations. County and city officials argued that those should be decisions made by elected officials by ways of an ordinance.
