MOUNT WASHINGTON - The annual Visual Artists of Bullitt County all-members art show took center stage recently in Mount Washington.
Citizens Union Bank hosted the event for the second year, which attracted the visual artists in the show and their families.
Vice president Chris Williams said a branch in LaGrange hosted a successful art show and decided it could work at the Mount Washington branch.
“It’s a way we can reach out to the community,” he said.
At the start of the show, artists had time to view the work and talk with each other while enjoying refreshments.
Then, Bullitt County Arts Council and VABC president Betty Whitt announced the winners of the show.
Artists that received an honorable mention for their work included LaVerne Arkenberg, Lola Foley, Gail Bagwell, Linda Cheek, Cindy Rayhill and Carl McKinley.
Rayhill received the first place award for her oil painting “Tranquility”. Debbie Shaw received the second place award for her pastel painting “Butterfly”. McKinley received the third place award for his watercolor painting “Festus and Dillon”.
Rayhill also received the purchaser’s award for her watercolor painting “Welcome to Mount Washington”. Citizens Union Bank started giving the purchaser’s award last year. It goes to the painting the bank buys.
All pieces entered into the art show will be on display at Citizens Union Bank during its normal hours until July 29.
The Visual Artists of Bullitt County meet from March to October on the fourth Monday of the month at Ridgway Memorial Library in Shepherdsville.
