CLERMONT - Bernheim Middle School students learned that movies with high-tech tricks and vampire-related themes can’t hold a candle to a well-told story.
The students were visited by Roberta Simpson Brown, the “Queen of the Cold-Blooded Tales.”
Brown is a retired teacher and published author as well as a professional storyteller. She learned her craft growing up in Russell Springs. She has performed throughout the country at various festivals and workshops.
At Bernheim Brown performed stories for students while hosting workshops to educate about the true art of storytelling.
Before each story Brown warned students that her tales would chill them to the bone.
“You think I’m somebody’s sweet little grandmother but I’m not,” she said.
Brown presented her own books, including “Scared in School,” along with CD recordings of her stories.
The Bernheim Middle Media Center sponsored Brown’s visit.
