When Thomas Trent arrives at the coastal country cottage he inherited from his grandfather, he steps into a different world.
He enters another culture where the pace is slower, and the mystical is part of the fabric of everyday life. Outsiders are rare in this tight-knit community, and the townspeople are rather unsure of them. Many of them have secrets, and for some their actions are prompted by greed and cloaked in deceit. As if that were not challenging enough, he encounters a remarkable young woman who claims to be a fairy, and has secrets of her own. Their encounters confuse and challenge him, his curiosity is piqued, and they discover a mutual need and attraction. This fantasy tale of magic, mysticism and romance is delivered in humorous fashion, to the delight of opening weekend audiences, as “The Faery’s Kiss” made its Bardstown debut.
There were tears and laughter in abundance, as the talented cast of amateurs and professionals from all around the region delivered a romantic comedy fairy tale that was greeted by standing ovations from appreciative audiences at the conclusion each performance. “The Faery’s Kiss,” the latest offering by Bardstown Community Theatre, in its 30th year of producing quality entertainment for locals and visitors to our community, was written and directed by international director and playwright Bill Breuer. After the final performance of the opening weekend, Breuer expressed his delight with the efforts of the cast and crew and the enthusiastic response of the audiences. “I’m very pleased to bring this show to Bardstown, and to work with this combined cast of familiar and unfamiliar faces,” said Breuer. “They have worked hard, have blended together, and have jelled at the right time to produce memorable performances individually, and as an ensemble, and the audience clearly loves the result,” he said. Breuer added that “the location and ambience of the theater at Kreso’s Restaurant is the perfect backdrop for this fairy tale, romantic comedy for adults and children ages 8 and above.”
