SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt Central senior Lindsay Hester picked up a major basketball honor earlier this week when she was selected as one of 39 players to try-out for the Girls’ Kentucky All-Star team.
Seven players from the Louisville area were picked for the try-outs which will be held April 17-18 at Campbellsville University.
Hester, who was an All-Sixth Region selection this season, is one of four players from the Sixth Region that will be part of the try-outs. The Iroquois pair of Adia and Asia Mathies were selected for the try-outs along with Butler’s Tiara Hopper. Adia Mathies has already been selected as Miss Basketball and will wear the number one uniform for the Kentucky All-Stars.
No Lady Cougar player has ever been selected for the Kentucky All-Stars. In 1992, Bullitt Central’s Jerome Hoosier played in the boys’ game. A handful of Lady Cougar players have been invited to the try-outs in the past.
A number of Bullitt East athletes have played in the two-game summer series against Indiana. The most recent was Robert Troutman in 2007. The most recent female player to represent Bullitt County in the game would be Nikki (Randall) Spencer in 1999.
The games against Indiana will be played on back-to-back nights in the middle of June.
