SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt East and Bullitt Central will share a softball tournament this weekend when the High Five Bullitt County Softball invitational Tournament takes place at both schools.

A year ago, Bullitt East hosted the inaugural event, but then during the off-season, then Lady Charger head coach Ed Phelps approached Bullitt Central coach Buddy Gallemore about splitting the event. Nothing changed when Phelps stepped down and Ricky Hoffman took over as the Lady Charger head coach. Hoffman and Gallemore went to college together at Cumberland and have been friends for 20 years.

The event is also getting a sponsorship boost from the Bullitt County Tourism Commission.

The Bullitt East pool will also include Eastern, Nelson County and Sacred Heart. The Bullitt Central pool also has Owen County, Clinton County and Fern Creek.

Pool games will be played at 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, games will be played at 9 and 10:30 a.m. as well as at noon.

The top two teams in each pool will then travel to Bullitt East for semi-finals and a final. The bottom two teams in each pool will be at Bullitt Central  for semi-finals and a consolation final.

The semi-finals in each bracket will be at 2:30 and 4 p.m. The championship game in each bracket is set for 5:30 p.m.

Admission each day will be $6.
