New Summer 2013 Fitness Class Combines Boot Camp Workout with Yoga

CLERMONT – Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is expanding its health and well-being class offerings.  In addition to Tai Chi, Bernheim now has Forest Fitness.

Beginning Tuesday, June 4, this six-week class will meet weekly from 6:30p.m. – 8:00p.m. at Paul’s Point Lookout off of Paul’s Point Circle in Bernheim.

Fitness instructor Amy May combines two popular classes into one great outdoor workout.  The first 45 minutes of classes will include a boot camp-style workout, designed to burn fat and sculpt muscle using body weight, resistance bands, and hand weights. Classes will conclude with a relaxing yoga routine to help lengthen just-worked muscles and prevent soreness.

“What a great way to enjoy nature and promote the health and well-being of our visitors and members,” said Dr. Mark Wourms, Bernheim’s executive director.  “We want to help get our region to the top of the American Fitness Index.  This year we ranked 47th out of the 50 largest cities in America,” said Wourms.

The cost is $60 for Bernheim members and $75 for non-members.

Class size is limited. Registration and payment is due prior to the first attended class. Students can join this series any time prior to the second class, but program fees are not pro-rated.
