OKOLONA - For the second straight year, the Blue Lick All-Stars will be advancing to the state Babe Ruth tournament despite falling in the championship game of district play.By virtue of a combined 13/15 district, both Germantown and Blue Lick will advance to state tourney play beginning July 17 in Hawesville.Playing in a three-team tournament, Blue Lick opened play against Germantown on Saturday.As it would in both games, Blue Lick jumped on top with a run in the first.Cody Montgomery reached on an error and stole second. Michael Wick's fielder's choice advanced the runner who would score on Nathan Koller's ball that was misplayed by the shortstop.T.J. Barr's two-out single scored Koller with the second run.In the fourth inning, Germantown would knot the score at 2-2.Luke Brohm doubled and Keller Barnett reached on an error after Pete Eddings walked. Another error plated the second run.Blue Lick regained the lead in the fifth. Koller singled to left and stole second. Barr hit another two-out RBI single for the 3-2 lead.The lead grew to 4-2 in the top of the sixth. Luke Bishop singled and Corey Bramer followed with another single. Montgomery's single to left scored Bishop.Germantown would break the game open with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.Hoover led off with a single and Wick walked Tyler Blake. Tyler Medley squeeze bunt scored Hoover and Eric Jackson followed with another single. Dylan Ramser's shot down the right-field line scored Jackson and Brian Settle won the game with a two-run RBI double.Eddings posted the victory and Wick took the loss.In an elimination game, Blue Lick fell behind 1-0 to the host Okolona squad. Corey Yopp singled home pitcher Corey Baker.In its second at-bat, Tyler Shewmaker walked and Bishop followed with a single. Shewmaker would score on a wild pitch. After walks to Bramer and Coty Berry, Koller drove home two with a double.Okolona came back to take a 4-3 lead in the third. Baker walked and Yopp and Tyler Manning followed with singles. Austin Cherry had an RBI single but was out at second trying for a double to end the threat.Blue Lick took the lead for good in the fourth inning. Bramer walked and Berry was safe when the third strike got loose. Wick drove home two runs with the single and Will Parker's RBI single scored the sixth run.After scoring a run in the fifth, Blue Lick busted the game open with eight runs for the 15-5 victory.Montgomery got the victory on the hill Manning taking the loss.With both teams already advancing to the state, Germantown finished undefeated with a convincing 12-5 victory.Blue Lick jumped out on top with three runs in the first. Wick walked, while Koller and Parker reached on errors. Barr walked and Shewmaker reached on another error.Germantown got two back on a walk to Settle and a triple by Brohm.Wick his a two-run homer for Blue Lick in the second but that would be the end of its scoring.Over the last four innings, Germantown would put 10 runs on the board against Koller and Barr.Blake won his second game of the tournament on the hill and Barr was the losing pitcher.Blue Lick All-Stars include Will Parker, Nathan Koller, Michael Wick, Luke Bishop, T.J.
