Blue Lick's U-12 has early morning softball explosion

OKOLONA - The offensive bats were in full motion despite an 8 a.m. start time on Saturday for the Blue Lick Under 12 softball All-Stars.

The Blue Lick team went 1-2 in the state softball tournament. The 19-1 victory on Saturday came after the team lost 23-5 to Prairie Village and then 10-3 to Barren County.

Against Hart County, Blue Lick plated 11 runs in the first inning to decide the contest.

Kayla Chapman singled and a walk followed for Shelby Crenshaw. Catcher Kristina Redner singled home the first run and Brianna Jarrett’s hit plated another. Eight consecutive walks were issued to Hannah Brady, Amber Amburgey, Makenzie Tipton, Kaitlyn Davis, Jessica Duncan, Chapman, Crenshaw and Kelley Rigdon. Redner delivered the bases clearing double for the 11-0 lead.

Crenshaw and Davis combined to allow just one run on the day.

Blue Lick finished off the game with a six-run fourth inning keyed by a double from Crenshaw and a triple by Redner.

Members of the Blue Lick U-12 All-Star team included Amber Amburgey, Hannah Brady, Nadya Campoamor, Kayla Chapman, Shelby Crenshaw, Kaitlyn Davis, Jessica Duncan, Brianna Jarret, Kelsey Mills, Kristina Redner, Kelley Rigdon, Tabitha Sizemore, Makenzie Tipton and Taylor Wilson.

Vince Murilla was the head coach with Bob Jarrett and Mike Wilson serving as assistants.
