BrightStar offers variety of services for in-home care

 SHEPHERDSVILLE - Bullitt County and surrounding areas have a new alternative to assisted living, medical care and companion care for seniors and children.

BrightStar was established January 2011, serving Bullitt, Hardin, LaRue, Meade and Nelson counties. The headquarters is based in Shepherdsville.

Owner/President Chuck Knoblauch said the local BrightStar satellite company is the first in Kentucky. The company has served customers for over seven years.

“I was in the restaurant business for years,” said Knoblauch. “I researched companies to buy and find personal satisfaction in and I found this company.”

BrightStar features a wide range of in-home services for elderly clients including companion and respite care, personal hygiene care, housekeeping and meal planning, therapy and transportation service.

“Whatever they need,” said Knoblauch. “We run the gamut.”

Services are available on a 24/7 basis with no minimums.

“We’ll do one hour,” he said.

Fully-insured transportation is provided at a cost of $30 for two hours of car use. Knoblauch said insured drivers could supply a vehicle or use the customer’s own car.

BrightStar guarantees quality care through nurse assessments. Knoblauch said the company performs reassessments every 30 days.

“We run full background checks on all employees,” he said. “We hire at a minimum of one year experience.”

Along with assessments, BrightStar guarantees customer satisfaction via compatibility with the caregiver. Knoblauch said a customer could request a new caregiver at any time.

“I had trouble finding caregivers for both my parents,” he recalled. “I had a bad experience. I felt there’s got to be something better out there.”

BrightStar also features child care services such as pediatric nursing, around-the-clock sitter service and in-hospital companionship.

After years of traveling around the country, Knoblauch decided that Bullitt County and surrounding areas were nice areas to visit with friendly people. He decided to move here and supply the company.
