HILLVIEW - Once again this year, the five northern Bullitt County municipalities and various groups in the community will help to clean up the area.

The Brooks Run Stream Walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 8 a.m.

Volunteers are invited to meet at the old Winn Dixie parking lot in Tanyard Springs.

They will be assigned areas, including those along Brooks Run, to clean up.

The community cleanup will conclude at Noon with lunch to be provided for participants.

Brooks Run is described by the Kentucky Division of Water as one with impaired uses due to low water quality. Each of the five northern municipalities -- Hillview, Hunters Hollow, Fox Chase, Pioneer Village and Hebron Estates -- are located in the Brooks Run watershed.

As part of their Phase II compliance, the cities must make the public aware of the situation and seek assistance in making improvements.

Small groups will be assigned certain areas to clean up. Also, water samples will be taken in various locations.

Boy Scout Troops 20 and 687 will again participate in a leadership role in planning the stream walk. Also, groups such as the North Bullitt JROTC, church groups and the Girl Scouts have participated over the years.

Dress in your jeans and boots and come out to help on Saturday. The rain date will be the following Saturday.
