SHEPHERDSVILLE – When should school start each August?
And should elementary students be the first ones to start school each day?
What do you think about fall break or the day before the Kentucky Derby?
These are just a few of the questions officials with the Bullitt County Public School System are asking.
A survey is online to deal with both the school calendar and the start times for the 2009-10 school year.
The only condition is that the surveys will only be on-line until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The information gathered will be used by committees working on both the school calendar and the start time.
The Bullitt County School Board will make the final decision on each.
In the start time, one of the questions deals with switching the start times to have elementary schools begin at 7:30 a.m. and high schools at 9 a.m.
On the calendar survey, questions deal with which week in August to start school and what day.
It also asks about several holidays and the importance to the respondents.
Included in that survey is a question on an alternative calendar, which would basically be year-round school.
The early release days are also on the survey.
Anyone can complete the Calendar survey until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17. To complete the calendar survey click here.
The survey pertaining to school start times for the 2009-2010 school year is available through Tuesday, December 16, 2008 by 2:00 p.m. To complete the start time survey click here.
