BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK

The Department of Highways District 5 Office advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on Interstate 65 from the KY 61 underpass in Bullitt County to a half mile north of the Outer Loop in Jefferson County (mile points 118.5 to 127.5).  Work will begin the week of June 1 to repair the concrete pavement in this area.

The roadway may be reduced to two lanes Mondays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, and weekends from 9:00 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH for the duration of the project and double fines will be enforced.

Faulkner Construction was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $5.68 million. Construction will be completed in the fall of 2009.

The District 5 Office also advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on Interstate 65 from mile point 110.7 in Bullitt County to mile point 102.1 in Hardin County.  Work will begin the week of June 1 to repair the concrete pavement in this area.

The roadway may be reduced to two lanes Mondays through Thursdays 6-8 a.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. Fridays until 10:00 p.m. Sundays.  All other hours the roadway may be reduced to one lane.

The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH for the duration of the project and double fines will be enforced.

Faulkner Construction was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $6.84 million. Construction will be completed in the fall of 2009.

The District 5 also reports the following roadwork scheduled for the week of June 1:

Bullitt County:

KY 61:

Roadway is reduced to one lane at the bridge (mile point 13.1) over CSX railroad near KY 480 for bridge deck repairs. A temporary traffic signal is in place to control traffic during this construction project. Work will continue through the end of June. 

 

 

Jefferson County:

Interstate 264(Watterson Expressway)/Interstate 64 interchange: Shoulder closures and delays possible at the ramp to westbound I-64 approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge (mile point 0.1) for ramp replacement. In addition, shoulder closures and delays are possible on eastbound I-64 at the ramp to eastbound I-264 (mile point 0.19) as part of this construction project. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

Interstate 64: Lane closures and delays between I-265 (Snyder Freeway) and the Jefferson/Shelby County line (mile points 18.8 and 23.9) June 1-5 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for roadway widening. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010. As part of this project, Gilliland Road will be closed at the I-64 overpass beginning Monday, June 15. The road will be closed for approximately 12 months for removal and replacement of the bridge. Motorists should follow the signed detour via US 60, KY 1531 and KY 148.

Interstate 264(Watterson Expressway): Lane closures and delays possible between US 60 and US 42 (mile points 19.8 and 22.2) for construction of an interchange at Westport Road. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone. Lane closures and delays are also possible on Westport Road between Hubbards Lane and I-264 (mile points 0.9 and 1.9). Speed limit on Westport Road has been reduced to 25 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

Eastbound KY 1447 (Westport Road): The right lane will be closed between Thierman Lane and Hubbards Lane (mile points 0.72 and 0.92) to allow for water line installation as part of the Westport Road widening project. This lane closure is scheduled weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 12.

KY 1065 (Outer Loop): The roadway will be closed at the bridge over the Northern Ditch (mile point 1.4) to allow for bridge deck restoration. This roadway will be closed to through traffic between New Cut Road and National Turnpike from 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, until 5 a.m. Thursday, June 11. Local access will be allowed. Motorists should follow the signed detour via New Cut Road to KY 841 (Gene Snyder Freeway) to National Turnpike.

KY 841(Snyder Freeway): Lane closures and delays possible between US 31W and Interstate 65 (mile points 0 to 10.0) for median cable barrier installation.

KY 913 (Blankenbaker Parkway): Lane closures and delays possible between Interstate 64 and US 60 (mile points 2.5 and 4.2) for roadway resurfacing. Lane closures will occur Monday - Thursday from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
