BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of Dec. 7

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of Dec. 7:

Bullitt County:

Interstate 65:  Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the KY 61 underpass and the Bullitt/Jefferson County line (mile points 118.5 and 123.1) due to concrete pavement repairs.  The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights Monday – Thursday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights Friday – Sunday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.  The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

KY 61: Construction delays are possible between John Harper Highway and Cardinal Avenue (mile points 19.4 and 20.1) due to roadway widening.  

 

KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road):  Roadway is closed at the bridge over Long Lick Creek (mile point 5.5) due to bridge replacement.  Motorists should detour the area via KY 61.

Jefferson County:

Interstate 65:  Lane closures delays possible between I-264 and Fern Valley Road (mile points 131.2 and 128.1) due to guardrail installation and bridge joint repairs.  Lane closures are possible weeknights from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-December.

Interstate 264:  Lane closures and delays expected in both directions between Preston Highway and Interstate 64 (mile points 12.4 and 18.7) due to concrete pavement repairs.  The roadway may be reduced to three lanes weeknights Monday – Friday from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  After 10:00 p.m., the roadway may be reduced to two lanes until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, lane closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday.  The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone and double fines will be enforced.  Construction is scheduled for completion in May 2010. 

Interstate 65:  Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the Bullitt/Jefferson County line and ½ mile north of the Outer Loop (mile points 123.1 and 127.5) due to concrete pavement repairs.  The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights Monday – Thursday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights Friday – Sunday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

Interstate 264/Interstate 64 interchange:  Shoulder closures and delays possible at the ramp to westbound I-64 approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge (mile point 0.1) due to ramp replacement.  Eastbound Interstate 64 will be closed from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning beginning Monday, December 7th and continuing each night for two weeks.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via I-264.   

Interstate 64:  Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and the Jefferson/Shelby County line (mile points 18.8 and 23.9) December 7th- 11th from 7:00 p.m. each evening until 6:00 a.m. the following morning due to roadway widening.  The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010.  As part of this project, Gilliland Road is closed at the I-64 overpass.  The road will be closed through December 14th for replacement of the bridge.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via US 60, KY 1531 and KY 148.

Interstate 264:  Lane closures and delays possible between US 60 and US 42 (mile points 19.8 and 22.2) due to construction of an interchange at Westport Road.  The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.  Lane closures and delays are also possible on Westport Road between Hubbards Lane and I-264 (mile points 0.9 and 1.9).  Speed limit on Westport Road has been reduced to 25 MPH in the construction zone.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

US 31W:  Lane closures and delays possible at Dixie Manor (mile point 12.1) due to traffic signal upgrades. 

US 31W (Dixie Highway):  Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway at the bridge over the Salt River (mile point 0.03) due to bridge repairs.  Construction activity is taking place underneath the bridge.

 

US 60A (Eastern Parkway):  Roadway is closed between Hahn Street and the entrance to the J. B. Speed School of Engineering (mile point 3.8 to 3.7).   This closure will allow for extensive repairs to the bridge over the CSX Railroad.  The bridge will be closed for approximately four months.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via Crittenden Drive, Central Avenue and Third Street (KY 1020).

US 60A (Eastern Parkway):  Roadway is reduced to one lane in each direction between the J. B. Speed School entrance and Third Street (mile points 3.7 to 3.4) due to roadway improvements.  Motorists should also expect lane closures on Floyd and Brook streets during the project.

KY 1447 (Westport Road):  Access to Ambridge Drive (mile point 1.43) will be closed on Tuesday, December 8th and Wednesday, December 9th due to roadway construction. 

KY 155 (Taylorsville Road):  Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and Tucker Station Road (mile points 6.1 and 6.8) due to installation of turning lanes.  Intermittent traffic stoppages on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Flagging operations will be in place for traffic control.  Tucker Station Road will be closed at KY 155 December 7th through 9th as part of the roadway construction.
