BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of Oct. 12

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of October 12:

Bullitt County:

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the KY 61 underpass and the Bullitt/Jefferson County line (mile points 118.5 and 123.1) due to concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights Monday ee" Thursday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights Friday ee" Sunday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays possible in both directions between mile point 110.7 in Bullitt County and mile point 102.1 in Hardin County due to concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weekdays Monday ee" Thursday from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and weekends from 9:00 a.m. on Friday until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. All other hours the roadway may be reduced to one lane. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

KY 61: Construction delays are possible between John Harper Highway and Cardinal Avenue (mile points 19.4 and 20.1) due to roadway widening. Roadway will be reduced to one lane from 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12th until 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13th due to pipe installation. Flagging operations will be used to control traffic and delays are probable. Roadway construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

Jefferson County:

Interstate 264: Lane closures and delays expected in both directions between Preston Highway and Interstate 64 (mile points12.4 and 18.7) due to concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to three lanes weeknights Monday ee" Friday from 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. After 10:00 p.m., the roadway may be reduced to two lanes until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. On weekends, lane closures are possible from 8:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone and double fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in May 2010.

Northbound Interstate 65: Lane closures and major delays expected between Fern Valley Road and I-264 (mile points 128.1 and 131.2) continuing through October 14th. Roadway will be reduced to 3 lanes between Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane. Roadway will be reduced to 2 lanes between Grade Lane and I-264. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.

Southbound Interstate 71: Lane closures and delays possible at mile point 8 on Wednesday, October 14th from 9:00 p.m. until midnight. Work will continue on Thursday, October 15th at mile point 11 with the roadway reduced to one lane from 9:00 p.m. until midnight due to installation of an overhead sign truss.

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the Bullitt/Jefferson County line and mile north of the Outer Loop (mile points 123.1 and 127.5) due to concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights Monday ee" Thursday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights Friday ee" Sunday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

Interstate 264/Interstate 64 interchange: Shoulder closures and delays possible at the ramp to westbound I-64 approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge (mile point 0.1) due to ramp replacement. In addition, shoulder closures and delays are possible on eastbound Interstate 64 at the ramp to eastbound I-264 (mile point 0.19) as part of this construction project. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

Interstate 64: Delays possible between I-265 and the Jefferson/Shelby County line (mile points 18.8 and 23.9) due to roadway widening. The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010. As part of this project, Gilliland Road is closed at the I-64 overpass. The road will be closed through October for removal and replacement of the bridge. Motorists should follow the signed detour via US 60, KY 1531 and KY 148.

Interstate 264: Lane closures and delays possible between US 60 and US 42 (mile points 19.8 and 22.2) due to construction of an interchange at Westport Road. The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone. Lane closures and delays are also possible on Westport Road between Hubbards Lane and I-264 (mile points 0.9 and 1.9). Speed limit on Westport Road has been reduced to 25 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

US 31W: Construction activity at Dixie Manor (mile point 12.1) due to traffic signal upgrades. The right lane of southbound US 31W will be closed on Thursday, October 15th and Friday, October 16th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. each day.

US 31W (Dixie Highway): Roadway will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the bridge over the Salt River (mile point 0.03) due to bridge repairs. The travel lanes are 11 feet in width. The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the work zone.

US 42: Construction activity at Holiday Manor (mile point 6.13) due to traffic signal upgrades.

US 60A (Eastern Parkway): Roadway is closed between Hahn Street and the entrance to the J. B. Speed School of Engineering (mile point 3.8 to 3.7). This closure will allow for extensive repairs to the bridge over the CSX Railroad. The bridge will be closed for approximately four months. Motorists should follow the signed detour via Crittenden Drive, Central Avenue and Third Street (KY 1020).

US 60A (Eastern Parkway): Roadway will be closed between the J. B. Speed School entrance and Third Street (mile points 3.7 to 3.4) through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12th for sewer line installation. Motorists should also expect lane closures on Floyd and Brook streets during the project.

US 60 (Shelbyville Road): Lane closures and delays possible between Ten Pin Lane and Hurstbourne Parkway (mile points 5.3 and 7.8) due to installation of pavement markings at each signalized intersection. Lane closures are possible daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

KY 155 (Taylorsville Road): Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and Tucker Station Road (mile points 6.1 and 6.8) due to installation of turning lanes

KY 864 (Poplar Level Road): Lane closures and delays possible on weekends at the bridge over Southern Railroad (mile point 10.9). Lane closures are allowed from 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. on Monday to allow for bridge deck overlay. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.
