BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of Oct. 5

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of October 5:

Bullitt County:

KY 61: Roadway will be reduced to one lane between John Harper Highway and Cardinal Avenue (mile points 19.4 and 20.1) for pipe installation. Flagging operations will be used to control traffic from 9 p.m. Thursday, October 8th, until 6 a.m. Friday, October 9th, and delays are probable. This work is part of the construction project to widen this roadway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes.

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the KY 61 underpass and the Bullitt/Jefferson County line (mile points 118.5 and 123.1) for concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning and weekends from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays possible in both directions between mile point 110.7 in Bullitt County and mile point 102.1 in Hardin County for concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weekdays from 6-8 a.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. Friday until 10 p.m. Sunday. All other hours the roadway may be reduced to one lane. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

Jefferson County:

Northbound Interstate 65: Lane closures and major delays expected between Fern Valley Road and I-264 (mile points 128.1 and 131.2) continuing through October 7. Roadway will be reduced to 3 lanes between Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane. Roadway will be reduced to 2 lanes between Grade Lane and I-264. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.

Southbound Interstate 71: Lane closures and delays possible at mile point 8 for installation of an overhead sign truss.

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the Bullitt/Jefferson County line and ½ mile north of the Outer Loop (mile points 123.1 and 127.5) for concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. and weekends from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

Interstate 264/Interstate 64 interchange: Shoulder closures and delays possible at the ramp to westbound I-64 approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge (mile point 0.1) for ramp replacement. In addition, shoulder closures and delays are possible on eastbound Interstate 64 at the ramp to eastbound I-264 (mile point 0.19) as part of this construction project. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

Interstate 64: Delays possible between I-265 and the Jefferson/Shelby County line (mile points 18.8 and 23.9) for roadway widening. Eastbound I-64 will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. Monday, October 5, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 6. The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010. As part of this project, Gilliland Road is closed at the I-64 overpass. The road will be closed through October for removal and replacement of the bridge. Motorists should follow the signed detour via US 60, KY 1531 and KY 148.

Interstate 264: Lane closures and delays possible between US 60 and US 42 (mile points 19.8 and 22.2) for construction of an interchange at Westport Road. The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone. Lane closures and delays are also possible on Westport Road between Hubbards Lane and I-264 (mile points 0.9 and 1.9). Speed limit on Westport Road has been reduced to 25 MPH in the construction zone. Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

US 31W: Construction activity at Dixie Manor (mile point 12.1) for traffic signal upgrades. The right lane of southbound US 31W will be closed Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.

US 31W (Dixie Highway): Roadway is reduced to one lane in each direction at the bridge over the P&L railroad (mile point 2.1) for bridge repairs. The travel lanes are 11 feet in width. The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the work zone. Due to the close proximity of the KY 44/US 31W intersection to the bridge, traffic movements from KY 44 will be restricted to a “right in/right out” only. Motorists will be prohibited from turning left from KY 44 onto southbound US 31W. Motorists will also be restricted from turning left from southbound US 31W onto KY 44.

US 42: Construction activity at Holiday Manor (mile point 6.13) for traffic signal upgrades.

US 60A (Eastern Parkway): Roadway is closed between Hahn Street and the entrance to the J. B. Speed School of Engineering (mile point 3.8 to 3.7).  This closure will allow for extensive repairs to the bridge over the CSX Railroad. The bridge will be closed for approximately four months. Motorists should follow the signed detour via Crittenden Drive, Central Avenue and Third Street (KY 1020).

US 60A (Eastern Parkway): Roadway will be closed between the J. B. Speed School entrance and Third Street (mile points 3.7 to 3.4) through 6 a.m. Monday, October 12, for sewer line installation. Motorists should also expect lane closures on Floyd and Brook streets during the project.

US 60 (Shelbyville Road): Lane closures and delays possible between Ten Pin Lane and Hurstbourne Parkway (mile points 5.3 and 7.8) for installation of pavement markings at each signalized intersection. Lane closures are possible daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

KY 155 (Taylorsville Road): Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and Tucker Station Road (mile points 6.1 and 6.8) for installation of turning lanes. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on KY 155 at Tucker Station Road on Monday, October 5, after 6 p.m. to perform an open cut on the roadway. Flagging operations will be used to control traffic and delays are probable.

KY 865 (Poplar Level Road): Lane closures and delays possible on weekends at the bridge over Southern Railroad (mile point 10.9). Lane closures are allowed from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday to allow for bridge deck overlay. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.
