BULLITT COUNTY ROADWORK: Week of Sep. 28

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 5 reports the following roadwork scheduled in Bullitt County for the week of September 28:

Bullitt County:

Hwy 61 - Buckman Street (Shepherdsville): The Bullitt Central homecoming parade will be on Thursday, Oct. 1. The parade route will start at Bullitt Lick Middle School at 5 p.m. and go east on Highway 44 and then south on Buckman Street and end at Second Street at the youth football league. Buckman Street will be closed starting at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday and will not reopen until the conclusion of the parade. Side streets leading to Buckman Street will also be closed off at the access point.

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the KY 61 underpass and the Bullitt/Jefferson County line (mile points 118.5 and 123.1) for concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. and weekends from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

Interstate 65: Lane closures and delays possible in both directions between mile point 110.7 in Bullitt County and mile point 102.1 in Hardin County for concrete pavement repairs. The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weekdays from 6-8 a.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. Friday until 10 p.m. Sunday. All other hours the roadway may be reduced to one lane. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

KY 61: Construction delays are possible between John Harper Highway and Cardinal Avenue (mile points 19.4 and 20.1) for roadway widening. Motorists should watch for construction vehicles in the area. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.

Jefferson County:

Northbound Interstate 65: Lane closures and major delays expected between Fern Valley Road and I-264 (mile points 128.1 and 131.2) continuing through October 7th. Roadway will be reduced to 3 lanes between Fern Valley Road and Grade Lane. Roadway will be reduced to 2 lanes between Grade Lane and I-264. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone. The Preston Hwy/Grade Lane exit (130) will close Tuesday night, Oct. 6, at 8p.m. At that time work will be shifted from the right hand lanes to the left hand lanes. The closure will continue throughout the duration of the northbound mainline work. Northbound I-65 and the ramp will reopen mid October.

Eastbound Interstate 264:  The ramp to northbound I-71 (mile point 22.9) will be closed for pavement repairs from 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28th until 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29th.

Southbound Interstate 71:  The left lane will be closed underneath I-265 (mile point 9.0) for pavement repairs from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29th until 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30th.  The right lane will be closed from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30th until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st.

Northbound Interstate 265:  The ramp to southbound Interstate 71 (mile point 34.7) will be closed due to pavement repairs on I-71 from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30th until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st.

Southbound Interstate 71:  Lane closures and delays possible at mile point 8 due to installation of an overhead sign truss.

Interstate 71:  Lane closures and delays possible due to shoulder repairs.

Interstate 65:  Lane closures and delays are possible in both directions between the Bullitt/Jefferson County line and ½ mile north of the Outer Loop (mile points 123.1 and 127.5) due to concrete pavement repairs.  On the weekends, motorists will be diverted away from the construction activity by utilizing the collector/distributor lanes at the Outer Loop and Fern Valley Road exits.  The roadway may be reduced to two lanes weeknights Monday " Thursday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning and on weekends from 9:00 p.m. on Friday until 5:00 a.m. on Monday.  Additionally, the roadway may be reduced to one lane on weekend nights Friday " Sunday from 9:00 p.m. in the evening until 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone and.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009. 

Interstate 264/Interstate 64 interchange:  Shoulder closures and delays possible at the ramp to westbound I-64 approaching the Sherman Minton Bridge (mile point 0.1) due to ramp replacement.  In addition, shoulder closures and delays are possible on eastbound Interstate 64 at the ramp to eastbound I-264 (mile point 0.19) as part of this construction project.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

Interstate 64:  Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and the Jefferson/Shelby County line (mile points 18.8 and 23.9) due to roadway widening.  The speed limit is reduced to 55 MPH in the construction zone and double-fines will be enforced.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010.  As part of this project, Gilliland Road is closed at the I-64 overpass.  The road will be closed through October for removal and replacement of the bridge.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via US 60, KY 1531 and KY 148.

Interstate 264:  Lane closures and delays possible between US 60 and US 42 (mile points 19.8 and 22.2) due to construction of an interchange at Westport Road.  The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the construction zone.  Lane closures and delays are also possible on Westport Road between Hubbards Lane and I-264 (mile points 0.9 and 1.9).  Speed limit on Westport Road has been reduced to 25 MPH in the construction zone.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2010.

US 31W:  Construction activity at Dixie Manor (mile point 12.1) due to traffic signal upgrades.

US 31W (Dixie Highway):  Roadway is reduced to one lane in each direction at the bridge over the P&L railroad (mile point 2.1) due to bridge repairs.  The travel lanes are 11 feet in width.  The speed limit is reduced to 45 MPH in the work zone.  Due to the close proximity of the KY 44/US 31W intersection to the bridge, traffic movements from KY 44 will be restricted to a “right in/right out” only.  Motorists will be prohibited from turning left from KY 44 onto southbound US 31W.  Motorists will also be restricted from turning left from southbound US 31W onto KY 44.

US 42:  Construction activity at Holiday Manor (mile point 6.13) due to traffic signal upgrades.

US 60A (Eastern Parkway):  Roadway is closed between Hahn Street and the entrance to the J. B. Speed School of Engineering (mile point 3.8 to 3.7).   This closure will allow for extensive repairs to the bridge over the CSX Railroad.  The bridge will be closed for approximately four months.  Motorists should follow the signed detour via Crittenden Drive, Central Avenue and Third Street (KY 1020).

US 60A (Eastern Parkway):  Roadway will be closed between the J. B. Speed School entrance and Third Street (mile points 3.7 to 3.4) from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26th through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5th for sewer line installation.  Motorists should also expect lane closures on Floyd and Brook streets during the project.

US 60A:  Lane closures and delays possible between Bardstown Road and Lexington Road (mile points 6.8 and 8.0) due to construction of sidewalk ramps. 

US 60 (Shelbyville Road):  Lane closures and delays possible between Ten Pin Lane and Hurstbourne Parkway (mile points 5.3 and 7.8) due to construction of sidewalk ramps.  Lane closures are possible daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and nightly from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

KY 155:  Lane closures and delays possible between I-265 and Tucker Station Road (mile points 6.1 and 6.8) due to installation of turning lanes.

KY 1931 (Greenwood Road):  Lane closures and delays possible between Cane Run Road and Dixie Highway (mile points 0 and 3.13) due to installation of raised pavement markers.  Lane closures are possible on Tuesday, September 29th and Wednesday, September 30th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.
