Bullitt County Shooting Sports always looking for new members

-A A +A

Bullitt County Shooting Sports began in 1993 with just a rifle team. Today we shoot Archery on Monday nights at Chickasaw Archery Club from 6-8:30 p.m.

In March we will begin on Wednesday nights shooting .22 rifle and black powder at the ROTC range on Beech Grove Rd. from 6-8 p.m.

Thursdays we shoot Trap/Shotgun at Jefferson Gun Club in Brooks.

All coaches go through training by nationally certified instructors, several hold credentials from other organizations: National Rifle Association, National Muzzle Loading Rifle association, National Field Archery Association, etc. and not only teach 4-H but are regular instructors for BSA and Hunter education as well.

The 4-H shooting sports program in Bullitt County is open to all youth 9-18 years. We have equipment for all disciplines so that kids can try the equipment before mom and dad have to buy it. Cost are kept to a minimum ranging from $1-5/week plus $1/year for insurance.

For several years Bullitt County 4-H Shooting Sports have sponsored the Bullitt County Invitational, currently held at the Jefferson County Gun Range in Brooks.

Roughly 100 shooters from all over the state visit for the day of shooting fun and camaraderie.
