SHEPERHDSVILLE - Cold weather over the first two days of this week was on everybody’s mind and that included local athletes as all the games scheduled for Monday and Tuesday were postponed.
As of Tuesday afternoon, three of the games had been rescheduled.
The biggest of those games was moved back just two days. Now, the 24th District showdown between Bullitt East and Fern Creek will be played on Thursday night in Mount Washington instead of the original Tuesday night.
Early reports on the KHSAA website gave a different date, but the games will now be played on Thursday. In another change within these games is that, now, the girls’ game will be played first, starting at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
As happened earlier in the season, the games could not be pushed back just one day because Bullitt East is hosting a wrestling match on Wednesday.
The other game that has been rescheduled is the Bullitt Central girls’ game against Bardstown that was originally scheduled for Monday night.
Now, the contest will be played on Saturday in the afternoon. The JV game will start at 1 p.m. with the varsity game set to be played at 2:30 p.m.
The two North Bullitt games with Moore have not been rescheduled as well as Bullitt Central’s boys’ game at Meade County. Both of those events were scheduled for Tuesday originally.
Generally speaking, when school is called off in Bullitt County, the games for that day are cancelled. In some instances, with improving weather, games can be allowed to be played under the direction of the superintendent and school principal.
Many of the games that Bullitt County teams play are against Jefferson County opponents. In that school system, it is a given that when they do not have school that no games will be played.
