MOUNT WASHINGTON - A six-year-old boy and his mother were injured Wednesday morning after crashing into a home on Bardstown Road.

The incident occurred at 8:07 a.m. according to Mount Washington police officer Rebecca Troutman.

Troutman said the mother had dropped one of her children off at Bluegrass Academy Childcare on Apollo Drive prior to the accident.

Troutman, who was at the scene, said police were considering the possibility that the woman had a seizure as she was pulling out of Apollo Drive, causing her to accelerate across Bardstown Road and crash into a home at 908 N. Bardstown Rd.

“In talking to the witnesses that’s what we’re going by,” she said.

Troutman said both the boy and his mother were conscious and responding at the scene. The extent of their injuries was unknown.

The boy was flown via Stat Flight to University of Louisville Hospital. He will be moved to Kosair Children‘s Hospital after he‘s stabilized.

The mother was transported by Bullitt County EMS to University Hospital.

No one else was harmed in the incident.

Mount Washington Fire units also responded to the scene.
