SHEPHERDSVILLE - Locals hoping for more sit-down style restaurants in the Shepherdsville area now have another option for dinner.

Cattleman's Roadhouse has opened for business at 139 Historical Trail.

Co-owners Bill Hisle and Stuart Meredith host the third Cattleman's location, with others located in Shelbyfville and Frankfort.

"We found a spot and we've waited a couple of years," Hisle said. "We always thought it would be the place for us."

Hisle guaranteed a fine dining establishment, including Cattleman's already-famous salad bar and steak dinners featuring Creekstone Angus beef.

"Creekstone originated in Henry County," he said. "It's used by many fine restaurants and was featured on CNBC. We try to serve better quality."

Other quality touches include homemade sides and burgers that are freshly-made, not frozen patties.

Along with steaks, Cattleman's features seafood, chicken and country-fried steak. Hisle said the 'moonshine' chicken and codfish sandwiches were among the favorites.

"And our ribs, they are killer," he added. "We've had more people rave about the ribs than anything else."

Cattleman's partnered with Jim Beam Brands to create a bar area showcasing Beam products, including a bar top with antique Beam labels and logos. A "barrel wall" showcases photos and decorations that tell the jim Beam story.

Hisle noted that even with the bar area, Cattleman's remained a family-friendly restaurant, with a large kids menu and a seating area separated from the bar.

"We tried to make so no one feels uncomfortable," Hisle said, adding that the entire facility will remain a non-smoking establishment.

Cattleman's features an express lunch menu with special pricing.

"We get workers in and out," Hisle said.

The dinner menu includes many items in the $10 price range, according to Hisle. He said nothing would be priced over $20.

"We try to keep it affordable for everyone," he said. "We want to serve good quality meals at a reasonable price.

Cattleman's is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information call 543-3574.
