Ugliest “Girl” contest will be held at 1 p.m.

SHEPHERDSVILLE - The goal is to one day have a shelter for abused men and women to seek temporary housing.

The problems of domestic violence continue to grow across the county.

In Bullitt County, a first-time event is being held.

A community awareness day for domestic violence will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Shepherdsville City Park.

In conjunction with the Center for Women and Families, this event will be staged to raise awareness of domestic violence in the community.

The event will feature a lot of family activities from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Many items have been donated for the event and children will be able to enjoy free hot dogs and hamburgers.

The highlight of the day will be the Ugliest Calendar Girl contest. Men will battle for the $300 first prize and the right to be included in a calendar with 11 other “ugly” friends.

That contest will begin at 1 p.m. at the pavilion stage.
