SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Law enforcement officials quickly apprehended a juvenile accused of robbing a convenience store Saturday morning by gunpoint.

Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell said that a 17-year-old Mount Washington boy was taken into custody Sunday evening for the break-in at about 6:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Red, White and Blue convenience store on Preston Highway and Bells Mill Road.

Tinnell said the teenager went into the store shortly after opening and displayed a gun to the clerk. He took $277 and fled when another customer pulled into the parking lot.

After interviewing another person, Tinnell said they received enough information to get a search warrant and then an interview with the accused.

The gun was located, as well as some of the apparel the suspect was wearing. While only a BB gun, Tinnell said it looked like a Glock and could have resulted in a very dangerous situation, as it appeared to be a real weapon.

The juvenile has been charged with robbery and was sent to the detention facility in Lincoln Village.

The sheriff was pleased with the quick apprehension. In the beginning, there was a thought that is could be an adult and this may be one of many robberies. However, Tinnell said it appeared to be an isolated case with the juvenile.

No one was hurt in the robbery.
