Bullitt County was in a prime position for the first time in many, many years in Frankfort.
The redistricting proposal would give the county two house representatives who would have the vast majority of residents and voters in their territory.
Also, the senate district would be just Bullitt and Nelson, increasing the possibility of having its own senator.
Due to concerns over the Constitutionality of the plan, a Franklin County judge struck down the new plan and put everyone back into the districts where they were before the redistricting.
That left Bullitt Countians with a senator and four representatives. Every person who represents a part of the county is doing an excellent job. However, the county has longed to have more of its representatives with local roots.
There is no way to predict what will happen in the future. We only know at the present we’re back to where we were.
For Bullitt County, it is a shame.
