The firefighters were out in force, and some in dresses, to collect money last weekend for the 60th annual WHAS Crusade for Children.
Over $6 million was collected in Kentucky and southern Indiana to help children who have special medical needs.
In Bullitt County, all six fire departments participated in fund-raising events over the past year, with most of the activity at roadblocks the past few weeks.
Some Shepherdsville firefighters even donned dresses to raise a few extra dollars.
Overall, over $194,000 was raised in Bullitt County with all that coming back to the community.
Zoneton Fire Department had the fifth highest total among Kentucky fire agencies with $85,786.91. Mount Washington collected $36,381.38, while Shepherdsville had $26,574.79. Nichols collected $17,321.92 and Southeast Bullitt had $13,475. Lebanon Junction generated $5,059.44.
