Dave Marion named to take over Lady Eagle basketball

HEBRON ESTATES - Late on Tuesday, North Bullitt athletic director Ryan Bringhurst announced that Dave Marion had been named to be the head coach of the Lady Eagle basketball program, replacing former head coach Amber Courtney who recently stepped down to take the top position at Bardstown High School.

Marion, who has been teaching at Eastside Middle School, has long been around the local basketball scene, but more in the Mount Washington area as he has worked as a volunteer assistant coach at Bullitt East. Marion did leave Bullitt East several years ago to become a paid assistant and then took the head coaching position for a few months with Waggener.

After that short stint in Jefferson County, he became the head coach of the Spencer County Lady Bears the past two seasons. Marion posted a 17-42 record in those two seasons and at the end of each season the Lady Bears lost to state-power Anderson County in the first-round of the 30th District Tournament.

Because of deadline restraints, a complete story on Marion’s hiring will be in Monday’s edition of The Pioneer News and at www.pioneernews.net.
