Whether you’re looking for something larger than life or simple and sophisticated you’re sure to find a winning Derby hat during the second annual Derby Rose Hat Preview benefitting Campbellsville University students.
During the event, which will be held this Saturday at the home of Betty and Chester Porter in Mount Washington, ladies will have the chance to view and buy original pieces by renowned hatter and CU alum GL Patterson of Elizabethtown.
As event organizer Gwinn Hahn explained, the hat preview is a prelude to CU’s Derby Rose Gala, a black tie event that has become one of the university’s largest annual fundraisers.
Hahn was proud to say last year’s inaugural hat preview raised more than $1,000 for CU’s scholarship fund and she’s hoping for an even bigger showing this year.
There will be a wide array of Patterson’s original hats on display, including over-the-top Derby Hats, fascinators, sunshades, winter halo hats and more.
The designer herself will be on hand with her hats and she will be taking orders for custom hats.
Her hats range from $50-$250. A portion of all sales will go to CU’s scholarship fund.
In addition to the hats, commonwealth’s attorney Mike Mann will be providing piano entertainment.
The Derby Rose Hat Preview will be held this Saturday, March 31, at 420 Bluegrass Way in Mount Washington.
Everyone’s invited to drop in anytime between 1 and 4 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door.
