A 13-year-old male competitor was injured last night in the dirt drag racing contest at the Bullitt County Fair last night.

Bullitt County Sherriff’s Department Lt. Mike Murdoch said the male lost control of his bike during the race.

Murdoch said the male had a dislocated left arm as a result and was unsure of any internal injuries at the time of the accident.

A helicopter was called in to fly the male to Kosair Children’s Hospital, Murdoch said, as a precaution. The extent of the male’s internal injures wasn’t known and there were concerns fair traffic would cause problems for an ambulance.

The Shepherdsville Fire Department, Bullitt County EMS and the Bullitt County Sherriff’s Department responded to the accident.

No other competitors were injured.
