Bullitt County Fiscal Court members made a wise decision recently when they decided to provide funding for a drug-detecting dog.
The county school system will contract with a company to provide several searches per year at the high and middle schools.
Over the years, various law enforcement agencies have had their own K-9 units. Unfortunately, that can be a very expensive endeavor and the animal is usually tied to its companion and can’t be easily retrained to work with another officer, if needed.
It is important that the county do everything possible to combat drug issues. The funds provided will be just over $7,000. That is a wise investment for the future of our children and our community.
This was a wise decision by our leaders.
