SHEPHERDSVILLE – With action on Monday afternoon, the Bullitt East baseball and softball squads each wrapped up the top seeds for the 24th District Tournaments that will start in two weeks at North Bullitt.
On the baseball side, Monday’s Bullitt East-North Bullitt contest was moved up two hours to try and beat the rain and that was accomplished as the Chargers rolled to a 7-5 victory after trailing 3-1 early in the contest.
The victory gave Bullitt East a 4-0 district mark this season and the number one seed. Southern will be number two at 3-1 while North Bullitt is third at 2-2. Fairdale, which lost to Southern on Monday, finished the slate at 1-3 while Bullitt Central was fifth.
While game times and dates are not yet set, the 24th District Tournament which will start on Monday, May 21, will have Bullitt Central taking on Fairdale in the opening game. The winner of that game will advance to the semi-finals and will take on Bullitt East.
In the other semi-final, North Bullitt and Southern will collide.
In softball, Bullitt East capped an undefeated season in district play on Monday with an 11-0 win over North Bullitt. Also on Monday, Southern defeated Fairdale, completing the pre-tournament games.
For the second year in a row, the feed-in game on May 21 will have Fairdale and Southern battling. The winner of that game will then move to the semi-finals where they will play Bullitt East.
Bullitt Central and North Bullitt will then play in the other semi-final. North Bullitt’s only two wins this season came over Fairdale and Southern.
This will be the final season for this district alignment. Starting next season, Bullitt Central and North Bullitt will be in the 23rd District with Southern, Moore and Evangel. Bullitt East will stay in the 24th District and be paired with Mercy, Jeffersontown, Fern Creek and Whitefield Academy.
