Eastside cheerleaders claim state KAPOS crown

-A A +A

It has been a magical time over the past month for the Eastside Eagle cheerleaders.

This year, Eastside has two teams - a small/medium of 16 participants and a large squad of 21.

In November, both teams qualified for the first-ever KAPOS Middle School State competition. That event was held on Dec. 8 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

Both teams did very well with the large team placing fourth and the medium team coming home with the state championship.

Both teams also competed on Dec. 15 at the UCA Regional Winterfest in Cincinnati. Both teams won their divisions and scored enough points to advance to the National Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla., in February.

Small/Meduium team members include: Savannah Flaherty, Morgan Gentry, Brooke Stivers, Leah Glass, Peyton Bailey, Taylor Blakely, Ethan Smith, Alyssa Heun, Haylee Miles, Erika Bolten, Lindsey Perdue, Alexa Valdez, Randi Hunter, Megan DeVore, Jordan Lowe and Morrisa Sageser.

Large team members include: Cassidy Burroughs, Kaylie Zabel, Courtney Barnes, Whitney Chesser, Molly Russman, Jarrett Dattilo, Taylor Ramsey, Regan Hare, Bailey Harris, Tabitha Cline, Tyler Carroll, Lauryn Smith, Mallory Tinker, Maddie Saylor, Baylee McCubbins, Abby Holmes, Rachel Escobedo, Hannah Clark, Dylan Mahlbauer, Jewell Deeley and Charisma Cornell.

Carrie DeBold is the cheer coach.
