CLERMONT - A driver was killed in an accident on Interstate 65 near Highway 245 Monday evening.

According to Bullitt County Sheriffs Chief Deputy Danny Thompson, the driver, a white male, drove into the back of a slowed tractor-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in the left southbound lane just south of the 245 overpass.

Thompson said the tractor-trailer was slowed due to I-65 construction lane closures beginning just south of the entrance ramp. The driver, in a white Ford Ranger, did not slow down.

Bullitt County EMS and Southeast Bullitt Fire units also responded to the scene. I-65 southbound traffic was rerouted to the Exit 112 ramp and back onto the southbound entrance ramp.

An investigation is ongoing. The driver's identity has not yet been released.
