MOUNT WASHINGTON - Beauty, babies and business.

A new program is coming to Mount Washington shortly, one that focuses on women in business.

On Wednesday, June 18, Kristen Hammack will be hosting the first Women Supporting Women event at Allure Aesthetic Associates,113 Snapp St., from 1 to 3 p.m.

She said the business will be talking about permanent makeup and some of the other services they offer. Afterward, a representative from a MFS will speak to the guests about investing and being “business savvy.”

An financial adviser for Edward Jones, Hammack said she noticed their were a lot of women business owners in Mount Washington, and being one herself, she wanted to create a group that could support each other.

“I think this is important for several reasons,” said the Mount Washington resident. “First, (women) have a much longer expectancy. We need to get away from the old way of thinking that the men take care of the women because a lot of women are left with not knowing what they have or what to do with it if something happens.”

Hammack said she hopes to continue the program every other month by going into a new local business run by a women to see how it runs.

The event is free to the public. Refreshments will be available and prizes will be given.
