Hillview to increase pay for police as recruitment, retention tool

-A A +A
By Thomas Barr

HILLVIEW -- Sometimes you get more than you ask for.

Hillview Police chief Bill Mahoney came before the town board asking for pay increases for his officers.

The concern was both retention and recruitment issues as Hillview battles other departments who are offering more money.

The chief’s plan would give all officers a $1.25 per hour pay increase.

But the Hillview City Council opted to approve a pay increase of $1.50 per hour, effective with the next pay period.

The council voted 5-1, with Randall Hill in opposition.
