SHEPHERDSVILLE - Snow was on the horizon, but the Bullitt Central Lady Cougars took care of business quickly enough on Monday to defeat visiting Presentation 55-51.

The snow started falling less than two hours after the completion of the game and Bullitt County was out of school for the next two days.

Still, Bullitt Central picked up a key win over their Sixth Region rivals thanks to a big third quarter that erased a 31-29 deficit. The key was some hot outside shooting as Bullitt Central’s only senior, Logan Wood, connected on a trio of the long shots as Bullitt Central outscored the visitors 15-8 in that time frame.

Even at that the game went down to the final seconds. Finally, Lady Cougar sophomore Seaera Minyard connected at the free throw line to secure the victory.

Bullitt Central (12-11) was led by Minyard with 14 points and Wood, who scored all of her points from beyond the arc, who collected 12 points.

The Lady Cougars had ten different players score in the game. Sophomore Kristen Collins came off the bench to hit on two three-pointers for her six points. Bullitt Central had a 7-2 advantage on three-point shooting.

Shelby Adams led all scorers in the game with 16 points for Presentation (6-16).

Bullitt Central was supposed to play again on Wednesday against Spencer County in Shepherdsville, but the weather got the best of that game.

The Lady Cougars will close out the regular season with two games this week. The team will travel to South Oldham on Tuesday and then finish up with Senior Night on Thursday against Western.

Bullitt Central will open 24th District play next week with a contest against Fairdale. See Wednesday’s edition for a date and game time for that contest.
