FRANKFORT - The Kentucky State Police will initiate a six month fall, holiday and new year enforcement campaign called Operation R.A.I.D (Remove Aggressive, Impaired and Distracted Drivers from Kentucky's Roadways).

The campaign will begin on Thursday, November 1, 2012 and conclude on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.  The high visibility campaign will focus enforcement efforts toward aggressive, impaired and distracted driving behavior, in order to save lives by reducing the number of fatal and incapacitating crashes, on all roadways within the Commonwealth.

During this initiative officers across the Commonwealth will be highly visible and focus on violations such as, reckless driving, following too close, texting while driving, DUI, and speeding.

KSP is asking for your help during this initiative by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.

KSP would like to invite the media to take advantage of ride-a-longs with officers to help promote the R.A.I.D. initiative. To schedule a ride-a-long please contact Officer DeWayne Koch 502-439-9801.
