Lady Chargers keep the Cup

-A A +A

Girls' Golf

CEDAR GROVE - The Bullitt Cup will continue to reside in Mount Washington as the Bullitt East Lady Chargers kept their stranglehold on the award for the top girls’ golf team in the county.

That is really not a big surprise. Bullitt East has claimed the title every year that the award, sponsored by Schmid Funeral Home, has been awarded.

Still, there was a big change this season as all three teams put full teams on the course at Heritage Hill Golf Course last Tuesday. This was the first time that all three squads have filled full squads.

As darkness fell on the course, Bullitt East got the award by shooting a 201. In fact, the Lady Chargers had the top four scores.

North Bullitt finished second as they narrowly beat Bullitt Central 260 to 268.

Winning the individual honors was Bullitt East sophomore Marissa Eschman who had her best round of the season with a 45 over the front nine at Heritage Hill.

Bullitt East also had a 49 from junior Olivia Pruitt  as well as a 53 by sophomore Morgan Judd. Both Savannah Morris and Erica hall, both sophomores, finished with 54s.

The top score by a player not competing for Bullitt East was North Bullitt senior Darian Webb who had a 55. The Lady Eagles also got a 60 from Lauren Pierce, a 70 by Haley Vittitow along with 75s from both Sarah Morris and Katie Jenkins.

Bullitt Central’s best score came from senior Macy Burton who had a 57. The Lady Cougars also had a 67 by junior Chelsea Fogarty along with a 71 by Taylor Evans, a 73 by Amanda Johnson and a 75 by Shelby Probus.

After practicing for most of this week, the local teams will compete in the Region 3 Girls’ Golf Tournament next Monday at Lindsey Golf Course in Fort Knox.
