Lane closures on Interstate 65 in Bullitt County the week of March 25

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists that work will begin next week for pavement improvements on I-65 in Bullitt County.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) recently awarded a contract for the removal and replacement of various sections of concrete pavement across a 20-mile section of the interstate.

Beginning March 24, contract crews will begin removing the pavement markings in the southern end of the project near the Bullitt/Hardin County line.   Temporary markings will be installed for the upcoming lane shifts.

In addition, crews will be performing asphalt patching in the evenings to provide a smoother riding surface until the deteriorated concrete sections can be replaced.  Work will begin in the southbound lanes and then move to the northbound lanes.  This pavement patching will take place in the evenings beginning Tuesday, March 25 and will take approximately four nights to complete.  I-65 will be reduced to one lane in the evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

Hall Contracting of Louisville, Kentucky was awarded this contract in the amount of $20.7 million with construction scheduled for completion in November 2014.
