LOUISVILLE - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists of lane shifts on northbound Interstate 65 in Bullitt County.
Beginning Friday, June 6 at midnight, northbound traffic will be shifted to allow for work in the right and center lanes between mile points 106 and 112.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction. A temporary median cross-over will be used to shift one lane of traffic to the southbound lanes while crews replace the pavement in the northbound lanes (see schematic below). Northbound traffic will be separated from southbound traffic by a concrete median barrier wall. Northbound I-65 motorists exiting at KY 245 (Exit 112) must stay in the right lane during.
This traffic pattern will remain in place for approximately two months while contract crews work to replace various sections of damaged concrete pavement. Once this phase of work is complete, traffic will use the newly paved northbound lanes while repairs are made in the southbound lanes.
In addition, the right lane is currently closed in each direction on Interstate 65 between the Bullitt/Hardin County line and Lebanon Junction Road (mile points 103.3 to 105.9). These lanes will remain closed over the next few weeks to allow for concrete sealing.
The speed limit in the work zone is reduced to 55 MPH and double fines are being enforced.
