SHEPHERDSVILLE – A number of local baseball All-Star teams will be taking part in Kentucky Babe Ruth State Tournaments this week.
The team playing closest to home will be the Mount Washington Under-15 All-Stars who will be playing at Germantown in Louisville. That team is coming off a third-place finish in the last week’s combined district tournament at St. Matthews.
The Mount Washington U-15 squad will play in the West Kentucky State Tournament which will start with pool play for the 13 teams taking part. Mount Washington is in the same pool with Meade County and the winning team from District 6.
Mount Washington will take on Meade County on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The next game will be played on Friday at 6 p.m. at Germantown against the winning team from District 6.
All of the teams will advance to bracket play which will start on Saturday and finishing up with the championship game on Sunday at 4:15 p.m.
Under-14 Blue Lick
The Under-14 Blue Lick All-Stars will be playing in the six-team West Kentucky Babe Ruth State Tournament at Meade County’s Olin Park. The other two teams in the pool are West Louisville and Meade County.
The first of the two ‘pool’ play games for Blue Lick will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday against Meade County. Blue Lick will then play again on Friday at 6 p.m. against West Louisville.
Under-11 Blue Lick
Coming off a district title, the Blue Lick Under-11 All-Stars will also be playing in Brandenburg this week in the West Kentucky Cal Ripken State Tournament.
There are 8 teams in this tournament with two four-team pools. Blue Lick is in pool ‘A’ along with Meade County, Prairie Village and Hikes Point.
The first game for Blue Lick will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday against the host Meade County squad. Blue Lick will then play two games on Friday. First, Blue Lick will take on Prairie Village at 5 p.m. The team will then return to the diamond at 9 p.m. to play Hikes Point.
All of the teams will then advance to bracket play that will start at noon on Saturday. The semi-finals will then be played on Sunday with the final set for 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Under-7 Mount Washington
The Under-7 Mount Washington All-Stars will take part in the 13-team West Kentucky Cal Ripken State Tournament in Elizabethtown.
Mount Washington is in pool ‘A’ along with Germantown and Meade County. The Mount Washington squad will open play on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Germantown and will then play again on Friday at 6 p.m. against Meade County.
Bracket play will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday with play in the first two rounds that day. The semi-finals will be played at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday with the championship game set for 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Any other teams playing in state Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Tournaments this weekend are urged to submit tournament brackets to email@example.com as soon as possible.
