MOUNT WASHINGTON - Spring break gave a vacation to tennis players in the county.
Prior to the break, the North Bullitt Lady Eagles fell 3-1 to Pleasure Ridge Park.
North Bullitt’s top singles player, Megan Kottak, scored the lone Eagle victory with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Chelsea Thompson.
In other singles action, Lottie Fischer fell 6-2, 6-0 to Leti Arcos.
In doubles, North Bullitt’s Emily Rodgers and Traci Henderson lost 6-4, 6-1 to Rachel Carden and Gabby Ayers. And on court two, Monica Bangiefski and Raven Thomas lost 6-0, 6-0 to Jasmine Anderson and Trina Kuban.
In a girls’ match on Wednesday, Bullitt East won 3-2 over a tough South Oldham team.
On court one, Lady Charger Amber Douthat lost 6-0, 6-2 to Katelyn Redd. On court two singles, Hayley LaGrone of Bullitt East defeated Alexa Pieargowski 6-0, 6-2. And on court three, Bullitt East’s Amanda Riposo defeated Bria Isaacson 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles, Jose Olliges and Erin Pieragowski defeated Bullitt East’s Jenna Nidiffer and Megan Figg 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 on court one. But on the other court, Bullitt East’s Jessi Hottois and Kylar Wise pulled off a big victory over Rhianne Lange and McKenzie Shircliff 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker.
After vacation, Bullitt East boys’ came back strong in defeating Bardstown 5-0.
In the top singles position, Dalton Sego remained hot with a tough 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 victory over Clayton Brooks. On the second court, Jacob Stiles defeated Austin Chaney 7-5, 6-4 in another close match.
On court three, Jacob Staples defeated Devan Chaney 6-5. (Tied at 5-5, a tiebreaker was done due to the diminishing sunlight.
In doubles, the top seed of Reese Milburn and Hunter Norris turned back Austin Borgadis and Austin Holsclaw 6-0, 6-1. On court two, Evan Reister and Zach Marlett took care of business with a 8-3 victory over Aum Patel and Brandon Do.
In a shortened boys’ match, Anderson County came to Bullitt East and left with a 2-1 victory.
On court one singles, Ben McDonald defeated Bullitt East’s Dalton Sego 6-4, 6-4.
On court two, Jason Staples claimed the Chargers’ lone victory with a 4-3 tiebreaker over Ben Spears.
On the only doubles court, Lowell Gibson and Luke Warford led Anderson County to a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 come-from-behind win over Reese Milburn and Hunter Norris.
