SHEPHERDSVILLE - The Summer Solstice provides the longest amount of daylight for the Earth's Northern Hemisphere, and the Bullitt County Coalition for Recreation, Education and Wellness (CREW) took advantage of it.

The extra daylight was the primary reason for The Longest Day of Play, an outdoor fun community event held at Shepherdsville City Park.

CREW member and Bullitt County Health Department Health educator Daniel Crum said the event was designed to get people outside and active, away from technology and what he referred to as "screen time."

Various organizations hosted informational booths while providing fun activities such as volleyball, badminton, Frisbees, Hula Hoops and corn hole games. Door prizes were also available.

Balloon bounces were provided by the YMCA, while Cheer Bling performed acrobatics.
