The Bullitt County Coalition for Recreation, Education, and Wellness (C.R.E.W.) would like to thank all those who participated with the recent C.R.E.W. Weight Loss Competition.
Each person who registered with this program received passes to local fitness centers, information on healthy weight loss strategies, and opportunities to attend exercise classes. Over the course of the eight-week competition, Bullitt County community members were collectively able to lose a total of 241 pounds.
Congratulations to first place winner Regina Lovell who was able to lose the greatest percentage of her starting weight, and win the cash pot of $840. Regina was able to make changes to her diet by controlling her portion sizes, snacking on vegetables, and drinking water throughout the day. She increased her physical activity by walking during lunch breaks and her son’s soccer practices. She also took her family on bike rides through Bernheim Forest. When asked what advice she could give those wanting to lose weight, she said “Have physical activity be a priority, even if you just have 10 minutes, make the best of that time because it makes a difference.”
C.R.E.W. would like to thank the YMCA, Shepherdsville Anytime Fitness, Mount Washington Anytime Fitness, Apex Physical Therapy, and Bullitt County Health Department for all the generous contributions toward this competition.
Since hosting these weight loss competitions, C.R.E.W. has been able to help Bullitt County community members lose a grand total of 816 pounds.
With the next competition scheduled for January, C.R.E.W. will continue to encourage Bullitt County to make healthy choices and improve their quality of life.
