SALEM, Ind. – The biggest non-racing event of the season at Salem Speedway is set for Saturday night, June 2nd, as the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League turns the focus from speed to power at the famed racing venue.

The Scott County Visitors Commission Hoosier Classic presented by E3 Spark Plugs hits Salem’s pit road with an outstanding pulling line-up, featuring the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League’s national “Champions Tour”.  The popular and super-competitive Super Farm Tractors, the ‘mountain motor” Pro Mod 4-wheel drive Trucks and the exciting Light Weight Super Stock Tractors headline the pulling slate.

“We’re looking forward to another great evening of championship pulling action,” said Salem Speedway general manager Richard Deaton.  “The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League has certainly provided some memorable moments at Salem Speedway over the years and we’re expecting more of the same for what will be the 12th annual Hoosier Classic.

“We anticipate a great field of competitors from across the Midwest and beyond for this big early season event,” said Deaton.  “This is a great opportunity for area pull fans to see the best of the best up close and in action.”

Pullers from as far away as Georgia, North Carolina, Iowa and Oklahoma have competed in past Hoosier Classic events.

Special preparations are currently taking place to have a Lucas Oil national pulling event at Salem Speedway.  Over 70 dump truck loads of dirt have been placed on Salem’s pit road.  Renowned track builder, Dan Cristiani, who has built the track at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville for over 25 years, will once again be putting the finishing touches on the 300-ft. pulling surface.

Tickets are currently selling for the Scott County Visitors Commission Hoosier Classic presented by E3 Spark Plugs and may be purchased on line at www.salemspeedway.com or by calling 883-6504 or toll free 1-888-246-7223.  Advance general admission tickets for adults are priced at $14 each and $5 for children (age 7-12).  Kids, age 6 and under, are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. on June 2nd with the first pull scheduled for 7 p.m. (EDT).
