SHEPHERDSVILLE - A man who had issues in Bullitt Family Court was arrested on Tuesday morning after making threats against the judge.
Douglas Matthewj Patterson, 32,of Bardstown, is now lodged in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
Patterson has been charged with retaliation against a participant in a legal proceeding.
According to Det. Mike Cook of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Department, a tip had been received last week that Patterson had made threats against Bullitt Circuit Family Court Judge Elise Spainhour.
Cook said deputies were told that Patterson was in the judicial facility and he was quickly apprehended without incident.
The detective said Patterson had no weapons when apprehended. While cooperative, Cook said he did not admit making any comments.
The comments were made to another person, who relayed that information to the courthouse staff, said Cook.
Cook said that Patterson had been in Florida visiting family and recently returned to his residence in Bardstown.
The investigation is continuing. The Class D felony is punishable by 1-5 years in prison.
This is the second case in the past two years of threats being made against a Bullitt County judge.
